Civil War Veteran Dies
Special to The Hawk-Eye.

Kingston (IA), March 22. -- Word has been received here of the death of Gustav Hohmbraker, Civil war veteran, and a resident of Muscatine for many years, at 2 o'clock Sunday morning at the home of a daughter, Mrs. T. B. Meredith, 369 West Fifth street. Death was due to a complications of ailments. He was 84 years old.

He was born May 1, 1838, in Prussia, Germany. In 1869 he married Miss Mary Laubscher, to which union eleven children were born, two of whom preceded him in death.

Besides his widow he is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Wesley Westfall of Hornsilver, Nevada: Mrs. T. B. Meredith of Muscatine; Mrs. Willard Dean of Kingston, Iowa, and Miss Blanche Hohmbraker of Burlington; five sons, Ed, John, and Harry Hohmbraker of LeFeria, Texas; William and Frank Hohmbraker, both of near Kingston; a half-brother, Albert Hohmbraker, also, of near Kingston, and four grandchildren.

The remains wore taken to Mediapolis this afternoon. Funeral services will be held there tomorrow from the Lutheran church. Burial will be in the Lutheran cemetery.
