Robert Joseph Hoschek, 87 of Burlington, died at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, November 18, 2001, at the Great River Medical Center's Klein Center.

Born June 4, 1914, in Burlington, he was the son of Joseph John and Hermine Marie Toegel Hoschek. He married Dorothy E. Luttenegger January 23, 1941, in Burlington.

Mr. Hoschek graduated from St. Paul's High School in 1931 and then Burlington Junior College. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 32 years, retiring as supervisor in the Burlington Post Office in 1973.

He was a member of SS. John and Paul Catholic Church. He was past president of St. Vincent de Paul Society for 19 years, a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 568, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, and the United Federation of Postal Clerks.

He enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; two sons, Larry R. Hoschek of Amarillo, Texas and Michael E. Hoschek of Burlington; four grandchildren; one brother, Joseph W. Hoschek of Burlington; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call after noon today at the Hass Funeral Home where a Knights of Columbus Rosary will be recited at 3:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

The Mass of the Resurrection for Mr. Hoschek will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with the Reverend Father Patrick J. Hilgendorf as Celebrant. Music will be provided by the Des Moines County Resurrection Choir. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
