Death of H.J. Jarvis
Those how have not known of his serious illness will be shocked to see the announcement of the death of Mr. H.J. Jarvis, who died of typhoid fever at ten o’clock yesterday morning. He had been a resident of Burlington since 1857, we think. He was a man of great power and energy mental and physical, and well known not only in the city, but in the whole surrounding country. Two sons, William R., assistant secretary of the Burlington Gas company, and E.H., stenographic reporter, both highly respected and efficient young business men and a wife survive him and have our sympathy in their sorrow.

The funeral will be at his residence on South Sixth street tomorrow at 10:00 o’clock a.m. (Burlington Hawk Eye, Burlington, IA, September 20, 1878)
