Sperry (IA) -- Herbert Edmonds, 86, suffered a fatal heart attack at his farm home June 18.

Edmonds was born in Monmouthshire, England, on February 15 1867, the son of John and Elizabeth Edmonds. He came to the United States at the age of 20, and lived at Terre Haute, Illinois, for several years before settling in the Sperry community. He was a member of the Methodist church and was a charter member of Diamond chapter, I.O.O.F.. On March 30, 1898, Edmonds was married to Vena Wunnenberg, who survives, as do three sons and two daughters: Floyd and Elmer Edmonds, Mediapolis; Mrs. Martin Burgus, Sperry, and Edward and Amy Edmonds, at home.

Also surviving is a brother, James Edmonds, of Galesburg, Illinois. Ten brothers and sisters died previously.

Last rites will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Fry chapel at Mediapolis. The Reverend Lester C. McDonald will officiate, and burial will be in Memorial park, Burlington.
