Rhonda Lynn Mathews, 59, of Mount Pleasant, formerly of Danville, died Friday, March 27, 2015, at her home.

Born June 13, 1955, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Raymond and Patricia Wood Hillgartner.

Ms. Mathews was a 1973 graduate of Danville High School and of the Methodist faith.

She was a great upholsterer and enjoyed helping people, flowers and gardening, antiques, crocheting and needlepoint, keeping collections, her dog, Bailey, and her grandson, Riley.

Survivors include one daughter, Nikki Duggan Merschman of New London; one son, Raymond Mathews of Centerville; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; four sisters, Roberta Benge of Kansas City, Mo., Cheryl Rich of Mount Pleasant, Margaret Coleman of Danville and Sheila Blomme of Stockport; two brothers, Morris Hillgartner of Lockridge and Rich Hillgartner of Harlan; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents and two cousins.

Visitation for Ms. Mathews will be after noon Thursday, April 2, at Elliott Chapel in New London with family receiving friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Immediately following visitation, the family will leave for Jaggar Cemetery in Danville for interment of cremains.

A memorial has been established.
