Alicia May Schaefer, 89, of Burlington, died at 9:12 PM Thursday, February 5, 2015, at the Danville Care Center in Danville. Born March 8, 1925, in Mediapolis, she was the daughter of Sylvester Perry and Jessie May Lyons Callaway. In March of 1990, she married Paul William Schaefer in Gladstone, IL. He died on June 2, 2012. Alicia worked for Sylvania, Burlington High School, and retired from Exide Battery, where she worked for 20 years. Alicia was an avid gardener and photographer, and she enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She loved her grandchildren. Survivors include one son, Wade R. Walker of Danville; three grandchildren, Dustin Walker of Burlington, Lindsay Steele of Burlington, and Jared Walker of New London; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Marilyn Doreen of Delmont, PA. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Caroll Callaway. Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Thielen Crematory. The celebration of life for Mrs. Schaefer will be from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Sunday, February 8, 2015, at Thielen Funeral Home. A memorial has been established.
