Kay Ann Thacker, 70, of Burlington, died at 10:50 PM Saturday, January 10, 2015, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born December 25, 1944, in Dallas City, IL, she was the daughter of Virgil Emery and Hazel Dell Booher Poulter. She married Terry Q. Newberry on January 19, 1962. On June 12, 1981, she married Clyde Edwin Thacker in Burlington. He died on October 7, 2007.

Kay worked at J.I. Case Co., Chittendon & Eastman, and IRC-TRW.

She attended Dallas City High School.

She was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Burlington. She was an avid collector of Barbie dolls and cookie jars; and enjoyed flowers and bird watching. She loved spending time with her beloved four-legged friend, Shelby Jo, and especially time with her family.

Survivors include one son, Terry (Sherri) Newberry of Cape Girardeau, MO; four daughters, Tamra (Ricky) Taylor of Fort Madison, Kelly (Joe) Raschendorfer of West Burlington, Lisa Hayes of Wapello, and Sandra Newberry of Burlington; twelve grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Richard (Elsie) Poulter of Fort Madison, Rodney (Shirley) Poulter of Liberty, IL, and DeWayne (Rita) Poulter of Dallas City, IL; two sisters, Shirley Lieurance of Burlington and Bonnie Kershner of Bushnell, IL; one sister-in-law, Ellen Poulter of Blandinsville, IL; one brother-in-law, Dale Emery of Mendon, IL; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; seven brothers, Gerold, Kenny, Francis, Glen, Russell and two in infancy; and three sisters, Dorothy, Janet, and Betty.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Thielen Crematory.

Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM with the family to receive friends Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at Thielen Funeral Home.

The memorial service for Mrs. Thacker will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at Thielen Funeral Home with Reverend David J. Yonker officiating. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the community room at Thielen Funeral Home following the service. Burial will be in Oquawka Cemetery at a later date.

A memorial has been established for Des Moines County Humane Society.
