Lucille Mary Margaret Powell, 77, of Burlington, died at 5:07 PM Friday, January 9, 2015, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born June 30, 1937, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Oscar and Inez Schulze. On February 28, 1971, she married Robert "Bob" Powell in Burlington.

Lucille was a very loving mother and wife dedicated to raising her five children. She was also a mother and friend to all.

She graduated from Burlington High School in 1955.

She loved music, playing the piano, baking from scratch, and reading. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. Lucille was a very good poet and also loved writing poetry for her family.

Survivors include her husband, Robert "Bob" Powell of Burlington; five children, Ellen (Brad) Gehring of Quincy, IL, Joel (Renee) Fynquist of Burlington, Gayle (Randy) Laucamp of Tipton, Sara (Bruce) Beckman of Burlington, and Mary (Michael) Gates of Burlington; one brother-in-law, Randy (Corinne) Powell of Burlington; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

The funeral service for Mrs. Powell will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 13, 2015, at Thielen Funeral Home with Reverend George W. Rogerson officiating. A time of food and fellowship will be held at the Eagle's Club 2727 Mount Pleasant Street, Burlington, following the service. Cremation will be entrusted to the care of Thielen Crematory following the service. Burial will be at a later date.

A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice.
