Born June 28, 1927, in Burlington, he was the son of Leland Otis and Pauline Rebecca Matthews O'Daniels. On Nov. 27, 1947, he married Evelyn Mae Sargent in Burlington.
Mr. O'Daniels was an iron worker with Local 577.
He was a 50-year member of Iron Workers Local 577, helped rebuild at Community Field after a fire, helped construct Western Little League fields and was an avid Cubs fan. He was a World War II Navy veteran serving with the Seabees. He was of the Lutheran faith.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Susan K. Bowling of West Burlington; one son, Danny O'Daniels of Burlington; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard L. O'Daniels of Burlington; one sister, Phyllis Holihan of Scottsdale, Ariz.; nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today at Prugh's Chapel. There will be no family visitation.
The graveside committal service for Mr. O'Daniels with military rites conducted by VFW Posts 10102 and 9162, American Legion Post 52, the Hamilton-Walters Marine Corps League and AMVETS Post 29 will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Aspen Grove Cemetery, with the Rev. Frank Beaty officiating. Those who wish to attend the service are requested to meet at 10:45 a.m. at the Sunnyside Avenue entrance to the cemetery.
A memorial has been established.
