Marlin Campbell

Marlin Marion Campbell, 68, of Burlington, died at 10:22 p.m. Saturday, January 3, 2015, at the Prairie Ridge Care & Rehabilitation in Mediapolis.

Born February 4, 1946, in Burlington, he was the son of Thomas and Pearl Wirt Campbell. On March 17, 1967, he married Linda Walker in Burlington.
They later divorced.

Marlin worked as a lifetime farmer and was the owner and operator of MC Excavating.

He was a 1964 graduate of Mediapolis High School. He had served as a member of the Iowa National Guard.

He attended Kingston United Methodist Church in his earlier years. His lifelong hobby was farming and he loved attending his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events. He enjoyed playing cards, especially Pitch.

Survivors include one son, Jamie Campbell of Mediapolis; three daughters, Robin (John) Poole of Sperry, Stacy (Mark) Adam of Farmington, and Brenda (Chase) Kalous of Alden; 12 grandchildren, Skylar and Danielle Poole, Terran (John) Ross, Breanna, Karlin, Shay, Andree, and Jonas Adam, Kale and Karsen Kalous, and Lane and Reese Campbell; one step grandson, Andrew (Megan) Poole; one brother, Darwin (Marilyn) Campbell of Mediapolis; one sister, Lila Dixon of Burlington; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Elwood “WoodY” Campbell.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Thielen Crematory.

The memorial service for Mr. Campbell will be 3:00 p.m. today at Thielen Funeral Home, with Reverend Dean Graber officiating. Following the memorial service, the family will greet friends and family in the community room at Thielen Funeral Home until 6:00 p.m. today.

Memorials have been established for Mediapolis Ambulance Service and Animal Angels in Mediapolis.
