Robert Warren Baker, 80, of Boulder, Colo., formerly of Burlington, died Monday, Dec. 22, 2008, at Boulder Community Hospital in Boulder.
Born Feb. 1, 1928, in Montclair, N. J., he was the son of Norval E. and Ruth Peterson Baker. On May 26, 1951, he married Mary Ann Witte in Burlington. In 1979, he married Margaret Lundy in Eldora.
Mr. Baker was president and general manager of Witte Paint Co. and Witte Drug Stores. He was a graduate of Rutgers University in New Jersey. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He was a former member of Burlington Golf Club, New Crystal Lake Club, chairman of Des Moines County Republican Party, St. Paul's Catholic Church and choir, Burlington Area Chamber of Commerce and BADCO.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Susan Swanson of East Greenwich, R.I., Ann Black of Earlham, Julie Piazza of Lake Forest, Ill., and Karen Rogers of Naperville, Ill.; four sons, Stephen Baker of Mishawaka, Ind., Alan Baker of Omaha, Neb., Bruce Baker of Des Moines and David Baker of Denver; two stepdaughters, Ann Tod and Susan Stahl, both of Denver; 15 grandchildren; and four stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother.
The funeral for Mr. Baker will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Burlington with the Rev. David Steinle officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington.
A memorial has been established for Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Boulder.
Prugh Funeral Service in Burlington is in charge of local arrangements.
