Lyle LeRoy Horn, 64, of rural Mount Union, died at 4:50 p.m. Thursday, June 26, 1997, at University Hospitals in Iowa City.

Born November 23, 1932, in Yarmouth, he was the son of James E. and Orva Featherby Horn. On December 29, 1953, he married Dora L. Davis in Preston, Minnesota. They divorced December 11, 1974.

Mr. Horn was a 1950 graduate of Yarmouth High School and a U.S. Air Force veteran from 1953 to 1957. He worked at Burlington Northern Railroad in West Burlington, Case Corporation of Burlington, Mediapolis School District in Mediapolis, Nelson Brothers and Raider Precast Concrete in Burlington. He was of the Protestant faith.

Survivors include three sons, Michael Horn of Yarmouth, Timothy Horn of Nicholasville, Kentucky, and Jeffrey Horn of West Burlington; five grandchildren; his mother of Henry County Long Term Care of Mount Pleasant; one brother, Earl Horn of New London; two sisters, Helen Bauman of West Burlington and Mona Ouiroga of Lancaster, California; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and two brothers.

Visitation will begin after 9 a.m. Sunday at Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m.

The funeral for Mr. Horn will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Lunning Chapel, with the Reverend Traverce Harrison officiating. Burial will be in Loper Cemetery in Sperry.

A memorial has been established for Des Moines County Cancer Society.
