James Everett Horn, 92, of the New London Care Center, died at 5:07 a.m. Sunday, January 6, 1991, at the care center.
He was born December 16, 1898, in Coal City, Indiana. He married Orva Featherby October 6, 1920, in Yarmouth.
He moved to Iowa when he was 17 years old and had farmed mainly in the Yarmouth and Mount Union areas until he was 80. He was a member of the American Trap Shooting Association and had served as director of the Mount Union Coop Elevator for 28 years and on the Yarmouth School Board for nine years.
Surviving are his wife of New London; two daughters, Mrs. Helen Bauman of West Burlington, and Mrs. Mona Quiroga of Lancaster, California; four sons, Dale E. Horn and Lyle L. Horn, both of Mount Union, C. Earl Horn of New London, and Dwight A. Horn of West Burlington; one sister, Mrs. Alice Holsteler of Clay City, Indiana; 26 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Elliott Chapel in New London.
The service for Mr. Horn will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Elliott Chapel in New London with the Reverend Thomas Zeleny officiating. Burial will be in the Trinity Cemetery at Mount Union.
Memorials have been established for the Yarmouth Fire Department and the New London Care Center.
