Raymond "Ray" Durfee, 81, 1103 Lynnwood Drive, Burlington, died of leukemia at 722 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, 1996, at University Hospitals in Iowa City.
Born Dec. 11, 1914, in Renault, Ill., he was the son of George A. and Louisa Wolter Durfee. He married Marjorie E. Nelson on June 17, 1939, in Burlington. She died June 24, 1992.
Mr. Durfee retired as a Burlington Farm Machinery salesman.
He was a member of West Hill Methodist Church, where he taught Sunday School for 50 years, and was also a member of Masonic Lodge for 50 years.
Survivors include one son, George Durfee of Carmel, Ind., three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
A Masonic service will be 7 p.m. Sunday in Prugh's Chapel, after which the family will receive friends until 830 p.m.
The graveside committal service for Mr. Durfee will be 130 p.m. Monday in Aspen Grove Cemetery, with Pastor Paul Benjamin officiating.
A memorial has been established for West Hill Methodist Church.
