Born July 31, 1944, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Robert L. and Betty E. Rothlauf Dowell.
She was a member of the West Hill United Methodist Church. She worked in production at the Hope Haven Area Development Center and was custodian at the Arts for Living Center for five years. She was the ultimate people person and enjoyed meeting people. She enjoyed roller skating and golden oldies music. She was proud of the many awards she earned while a participant in the Special Olympics events.
Survivors include one brother, Harold L. (Monika) Dowell of Burlington; nieces; nephews; cousins; and special cousins, Shirley and Warren Corman of Sperry.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Patricia Brown.
The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the services on Wednesday.
The funeral for Ms. Dowell will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2007, at Prugh's Chapel with the Rev. Tyrone Henderson officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
Memorials have been established for Hope Haven Area Development Center and Klein Center's Life Enhancement Fund.
