John W. Stubbs, 79, of 414 Division, died at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, December 30 (1978), at Veterans hospital, Knoxville.

He was born July 7, 1899, in Burlington, the son of Sol and Margaret Riley Stubbs. He married Grace Smith December 3, 1948, in Davenport. A World War I Army veteran, he was a retired boilermaker with Hawkeye Boiler Company, a member of the Boiler Makers union, and of the Protestant faith.

Surviving: His wife; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Louise Louck, Burlington, and Mrs. Vera Jern, Oquawka, Illinois; a stepson, Clair Ditto, Galesburg, Illinois; and a sister, Mrs. Margaret Becktell, Oregon, Illinois.

Graveside service: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Reverend Clair Noblitt; Oquawka, Illinois, cemetery. Body is at Prugh's Chapel.
