VERNER KISSINGER PASSED AWAY
Burial at Springville, Iowa, Wednesday Afternoon.

Verner Carl Kissinger was born near Sperry, Iowa, on February 4, 1904, and passed away at the home of parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kissinger, near Morning Sun, Iowa, at 2:46 a.m., October 24, 1938, at the age of 34 years, 8 months and 20 days. His illness extended over a period of three years, during which time he continued his work, until September 1; and had been bedfast for two months. He was united in marriage to Miss Florence Ilgrenfritz of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, September 24th, 1934, where they resided for a year, moving to West Branch, Iowa, in 1935, which place was their home until the time of his. death.

With his parents he came to this vicinity when a small child and received his education in the Morning Sun school, graduating with the class of 1923. He was employed in the H. D. Cooley drug store for three years and for the past eleven years has been in the employ of the Rock Island Railway Company, as signal maintainer. He was a member of the Methodist church and also the Masonic lodge.

Sam, as he was known to his many friends in this community, was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed by his companion, relatives and friends. He always had a smile and a pleasant word for all and was always ready to lend a hand to those less fortunate than himself. During his last illness he was patient and cheerful, although he knew his time was short, still he had plans for the future in mind.

He is survived by the widow, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kissinger, three brothers, Curtis of Madison, Florida, Harold of Morning Sun, Paul of Flint, Michigan, and three sisters, Mrs. Earl Walker of Crawfordsville, Mrs. Fred Stephenson of Burlington, and Mrs. Lester Crouch of Morning Sun.

The funeral services were held at the Methodist church Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Reverend J. T. Gable of West Branch, assisted by Reverend J. A. Worrell, local pastor. Mrs. George Green and Mrs. Sam McElhinney, C. A. Brown and Bert Moyers sang, with Miss Helen Griffith as accompanist. The interment was at Springville, Iowa, with H. D. Cooley, B. J. Moyers and Wm. McKeever of this city, and Dr. D. O. Shipley, L. E. Kinsey and E. L. Farmer of West Branch, as pallbearers. The Masonic rites were carried out at the graveside.

The following relatives and friends were here for the funeral: Mrs. Ilgrenfritz and Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Kinney of Cedar Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Smith of Chicago; Mrs. B. H. Horsewell, Mrs. Ed. Kemp and daughter Betty, Mrs. Clayton Eden, Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Farmer and Wm. Anderson of West Branch; Miss Pearl Bobbst of Iowa City; Mrs. Fay Stroup of Elmira; Mr. and Mrs. Merle Campbell and daughter of Elk River, Junction; Paul Kissinger of Flint, Michigan; with others from out of town.
