C. H. Wichhart, 73, Former Local Man, Dies At Mediapolis

C. H. Wichhart, retired Mediapolis blacksmith and former Burlington man, died at his home in Mediapolis yesterday. He was the father of Esco W. Wichhart of Burlington and brother of Mrs. William G. Fritz and John C. Wichhart, both of this city.

Mr. Wichhart was born in Baltimore, Maryland, November 22, 1857, and came to Burlington with his parents in 1866. He lived in Burlington for 11 years before moving to a farm east of Latty. In 1891 he was engaged in the blacksmith and implement business in Mediapolis, retiring in 1923. He married Clarinda Walker of Latty, a number of years ago. Mrs. Wichhart survives.

Besides his widow and the relatives here he is survived by another son, Arthur M. Wichhart of Lincoln university, Pennsylvania, and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 at the Baptist church at Mediapolis in charge of the Reverend P. H. Blunt, pastor of Walnut Street Baptist church, Burlington. Burial will be in Kossuth cemetery.
