Dorothy "Dottie or Doad" Ann Hartman, 76, passed away in Phoenix, AZ on July 6, 2007.
Dorothy was born May 27, 1931 and graduated from Burlington High School in 1948.
She met and married Vernon "Gunner" Hartman December 1, 1951. Dorothy was employed at Johnny and Kay's Diner in the 1950's. She began at Meredith Corporation as a clerk typist and retired as a credit manager in 1989.
Dorothy was a past president of Fort Des Moines Little League and South Des Moines Girls Softball League. She was also a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and also taught ceramics out of her home.
In Des Moines, Dorothy led the drive to have SW 9th Street from Army Post Rd. to County Line Rd. paved in the early 1960's.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon "Gunner" Hartman and a grandson, Adam Dawson.
She is survived by children: Tim (Stephanie) Hartman of Earlham, IA; Patrice (Mark) Hendricks of WA; Ann (Tom) Williams of AZ; Mary Hartman of WA; and Julie (Richard) Dawson of AZ; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and one half sister, Lucinda Cozenas.
