Mrs. Dorothy Lois Hartman, 91, of West Burlington died at 11:25 a.m. Wednesday, December 10, 2014, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born January 29, 1923 in Louisa County, she was the daughter of James Earl and Daisy Maude (Shively) Morris. On April 16, 1961 she married Eugene Bristol Hartman in Davenport. He preceded her in death on August 16, 1962.
Mrs. Hartman worked as a general clerk for the US Army Corp of Engineers for 30 years, retiring in 1979. She moved to Burlington in her retirement.
Mrs. Hartman was a member of West Burlington United Methodist Church, Zion Quilters, Hawkeye Heritage Quilters Guild and a social member of Royal Neighbors.
Survivors include two nieces, Brenda Poulos of Galesburg, Illinois and Rebecca Pilling of New London.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister, Orabelle Engle.
The graveside funeral service and inurnment for Mrs. Hartman will be at a later date in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials have been established for West Burlington United Methodist Church, Great River Hospice, and N.A.R.F.E. Chapter 433 for Alzheimer's Research and may be mailed to Lunning Chapel, 2620 Mt. Pleasant St., Burlington, IA 52601.
According to Mrs. Hartman's wishes, cremation has been entrusted to Lunning Chapel.
