Mr. Leonard A. Johnson, 71, of Burlington died Sunday, December 7, 2014, at his residence.
Born September 16, 1943 in Waterville, he was the son of Lloyd Johnson and Amy (Olson) Johnson Ferris. On September 16, 1961 he married Ruth Ann Polson. They later divorced. On December 4, 1980 he married Carol L. Meyer. She preceded him in death on May 5, 2012.
Mr. Johnson attended West Burlington schools and was a peace time Army veteran. He owned and operated S&R Mobil at the corner of Sunnyside and Roosevelt for a number of years. He later worked at J.I. Case Co. in fabrication.
Mr. Johnson enjoyed working on cars and coin collecting.
Survivors include his children, Larry (Janet) Johnson, Lisa (Daniel) McGinity, Kelly (Donnie) Walker, Matthew (Tammy) Meyer, and Michael (Stacey) Meyer all of Burlington; seven grandchildren; one great granddaughter; his mother, Amy Ferris of Burlington; sister, Linda (Gary) Durfee of Arkansas; one niece and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by his father and his wife.
The memorial funeral service for Mr. Johnson will be 1 p.m. Thursday, December 11th, at Lunning Chapel with the Rev. David Mixon officiating.
A memorial has been established for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Cremation has been entrusted to Lunning Chapel.
