Morning Sun (IA) -- Pearl A. Moyers, 88 years old, died Thursday at the Kline Memorial Hospital in Burlington, where he had been a patient for about a week.

He was born at Tamatown in Des Moines county on December 12, 1875, the son of G. W. and Rebecca Pence Moyers. He was married on. March 1, 1898, to Jessie Mae Swan at Wapello.

He made his home and farmed at Newport for many years before moving to. Morning Sun in 1946.

He was preceded in death by one son, Floyd, in 1918, one daughter, Mrs. Francis Harrison in 1948, and his wife in 1958. Two brothers and three sisters also preceded him in death.

He is survived by one son, Earl Moyers of Davenport, one daughter, Mrs.. Lottie Pilling of Mediapolis, one brother H. R. Moyers of Elk River, Minnesota, and seven grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

He was a member of the Morning Sun Methodist Church and for a number of years was the church custodian of the Methodist Church at Morning Sun.

Services will be conducted Saturday afternoon, June 6, at 2:00 p.m. at the Pierce Funeral Home in Morning Sun with the Reverend A. Z. Wiegel of the Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be at the Elmwood Cemetery. The body is now at the Pierce Funeral Home.
