GEORGE W. MOYER DIES AT HOSPITAL
George W. Moyer is Laid to Rest Here.

George W. Moyer, 76 years old, and a former resident of the Fairview neighborhood east of town, died at Burlington hospital Sunday morning, following a brief illness. The body was brought to Morning Sun Tuesday and the funeral service held from the Methodist church, conducted by Reverend T. S. Pool of Mt. Pleasant, an old friend and former pastor of the family.

He was assisted by Reverend H. W. Munster of this city. The interment was at Elmwood cemetery.

Mr. Moyer was born in Sperry, Iowa, on, April 12, 1849. He grew to manhood there and for many years farmed in Des Moines county, later moving to Louisa county, where he farmed a number, of years. He retired from active business fourteen years ago and for a number of years has made his home with a daughter in Burlington.

On November 11, 1869, he was married to Miss Rebecca E. Pence, who preceded him in death seven years ago. Mr. Moyer had gone to the home of Verne Burgess on the Irish Ridge road last Saturday and while there became ill. He was taken to the Burlington hospital where it was found his illness was due to gall stones.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. George Dotson of Burlington, and Mrs. Frank Hamilton of Wapello; four sons, Pearl of Wapello, Burt of Elrick, Edward of Sperry, and Hallie of Minnesota. Twenty-eight grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren also survive.
