Mr. C. D. "Charlie" Thornburg, 94, of New London, formerly of Lowell, died at 9:30 a.m. Monday, February 17, at Burlington Medical Center.

He was born May 17, 1890, at Pilot Grove, to Abner and Altha Watton Thornburg. He married Annetta May Jones February 14, 1912, at Ft. Madison; she died September 3, 1980.

He was a retired farmer and a member of the Lowell Baptist Church.

Surviving are two sons, Burton, New London, and Dayton, Columbus Junction; two daughters, Velva DeLong, Burlington, and Marna Carr, Keosauqua; two sisters, Laura Pickle, Danville, and Mildred Fry, Weiser, Idaho; and seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Services for Mr. Thornburg will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Elliott Chapel, New London. Burial will be in Burge Cemetery.
