Funeral Services Held at Sharon Tuesday.

Mrs. I. R. Carithers, a resident of this city for many years, died Sabbath morning, March 14 (1937), following a protracted illness. The funeral services were held at Sharon Reformed Presbyterian church Tuesday afternoon, conducted by the Reverend M. W. Dougherty, assisted by Reverend H. G. Patterson. The church choir, Mrs. Walter McElhinney, Mrs. W. E. Willson, Mrs. Lloyd Edgar, Mrs. Alfred Kilpatrick, Eugene Reed, Alfred Kilpatrick, Kyle Kilpatrick, and Bruce Baird, sang. The interment was made in the Sharon cemetery, the pallbearers being Wm. Carithers, Ray Meyers, Robert Baird, Merl Baird, E. A. Baird and Paul Baird.

Relatives called here for the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Joseph, Andrew Patton, Reverend and Mrs. F. E. Allen of Hopkinton, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Lester Kern and family of Blairstown, Iowa; Wm. Carithers of Galesburg, Illinois; Mr. and Mrs. Clark Sexton of Oakville; Mrs. Elizabeth Mellinger and Ray Meyers of Mediapolis.

Rosana Baird, daughter of John and Catherine McElhinney Baird, was born in the Sharon vicinity May 22d, 1866, and was one of twelve children, ten of whom preceded her in death.

At an early age she joined the Sharon congregation of the Reformed Presbyterian church in which she took an active part until laid aside by a providence of God, working in the Sabbath school, the missionary society and the choir.

On December 12th, 1888, she was united in marriage to I. R. Carithers. To this union were born two children, John French and William Work.

For the past nine years it has been her lot to be withheld from the active life which she enjoyed, but to it she was resigned and through it learned the true meaning of being made perfect through suffering.

She was proceeded in death by her son, John French, who died December 2, 1918, at the age of 28 years. There remain in this life, her husband I. R. Carithers; her son, Work, his wife and their children Richard, Robert and Florence Ann, and her brother, J. P. Baird, all of Sharon vicinity.
