Frank Oscar Jarvis, 70, died Tuesday morning, March 16, 1943, at two o'clock in the morning, following several weeks of declining health. He returned a week ago from Mercy Hospital in Burlington where he had been receiving treatment. He had also received treatment at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, this past winter.
He was the son of Franklin and Sarah (Dryden) Jarvis. He was born on the family farm Southwest of Morning Sun, Iowa, on August 18, 1872, and with the exception of a few years spent in Kansas, he spent his entire life in Morning Sun. The family moved to Humbolt, Kansas, in 1883 when he was eleven years of age, Frank returned to Iowa around 1901-03.
On June 12, 1911, he was united in marriage to Mae Alice Scott who survives. To that union were born two sons, Paul born September 4, 1912, and died in a hunting accident September 7, 1928, and Earl born January 26, 1920, who lives in Morning Sun at this time. He was preceded in death by a sister Loretta Mundell on May 13, 1942, and a brother Elsworth in March of 1932. Eight brothers and sisters died in infancy or at an early age.
Mr. Jarvis was a member of the Presbyterian Church and the A. F. and A. M. Masonic Lodge in Morning Sun. Funeral services were held Thursday, March 18, 1943, at the Presbyterian Church, the Reverend O. L. Byrns, officiating. Burial was at the Elmwood Cemetery in Morning Sun, Iowa, with Pierce Funeral Home in charge.
