Lois Winona Schnupper Buffington Hultquist, 95, of Burlington, Iowa, died at Great River Hospice House, West Burlington, Iowa on Thursday evening, December 4, 2014.

Born on December 28, 1918 in Danville, Iowa, she was the daughter of Fred and Sophia M. Holman Schnupper. She married Burdette Riley Buffington on December 6, 1939 at Methodist Parsonage, Muscatine, Iowa. He died on April 22, 1969. She married Glenn Frederick Hultquist on August 9, 1970 at Peace Lutheran Church, Prairie Grove, Iowa. He died on December 9, 2008.

Following graduation from Burlington High School, Lois received a Bookkeeping Degree from LaSalle University. She worked at Brayton Chemical Co. as a bookkeeper for 33 years, from 1952 until 1985. She then worked at Designers Viewpoint from 1987 to 1995.

Lois enjoyed shopping and would drop whatever she was doing if someone wanted to go. She enjoyed traveling and participated in many organizations, activities and church. Glenn enjoyed many of the same activities and would often accompany her. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Glass Club, Burlington Art Guild, Burlington Camera Club, Friends of GRMC and numerous other organizations over her lifetime. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Luan B. (Jerry M.) Watkins of Marble Falls, Texas; two grandchildren, Charles M. Hiatt (Teresa Hiatt) of Gold Bar, Washington and Kelly L. (Bill) Bonjonia of Waco, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Jesse E. Hiatt, Corrie, L. Hiatt & Berkley W. Bonjonia; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husbands, three sisters and her parents.

Funeral services for Lois Hultquist will be held on Monday, December 8, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church, Burlington, Iowa. Rev. Susanne Smith will officiate. Interment will be in Prairie Grove Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
