Dora Vorwerk, 80, of Burlington, died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 1996, at her home.
Born, March 28, 1916, in Wapello, she was the daughter of Frank and Anna Rold Doran. On Feb. 5, 1940, she married Arthur Vorwerk in Dodgeville. He died Feb. 27, 1978.
Mrs. Vorwerk graduated from Oakville High School. She worked as a dietary supervisor at Burlington Medical Center for 20 years until her retirment in 1983.
She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Burlington and St. Patrick's Altar and Rosary Society.
Survivors include four sons, David Vorwerk of Monmouth, Ill., Michael Vorwerk of Gladstone, Ill., Larry Vorwerk and Chris Vorwerk, both of Burlington; two granddaughters; two step-grandsons; five step-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Raymond Doran of Morning Sun and Robert Doran of Carman, Ill.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today at Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends following a 7 p.m. Rosary, said by the Knights of Columbus, until 830 p.m.
The funeral for Mrs. Vorwerk will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Gerald Stouvenel officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for Visiting Nurses Association.
