Raymond "Ray" Charles Schnicker, 91, of Burlington, died at 530 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, 1996, at Burlington Medical Center.
Born May 20, 1905, in Des Moines County, he was the son of George and Dora Gieselman Schnicker. On April 20, 1939, he married Irene Burgus in Burlington.
Mr. Schnicker worked at Klein Manufacturing in Burlington for 30 years until his retirement in 1974.
He was a member of Zion United Church of Christ in Burlington, Mixed Spices and was a Boy Scout leader in the Order of Arrow.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Joyce Scheideman of Burlington; two sons, Donald Schnicker of Lake Forrest, Calif., and Randy Schnicker of Denver, Colo.; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Chester Schnicker of Danville Care Center in Danville, and Roy Schnicker of New London Care Center in New London; and two sisters, Marie Walz of New London and Edna Wick of Mount Union.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and four brothers.
Visitation will be after 8 a.m. Friday at Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 830 p.m.
The funeral service for Mr. Schnicker will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Zion United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Gary Chapman officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for Zion United Church of Christ.
