JACOB W. DEEN PASSES AWAY
Resident of County 80 Years Died Last Night At Home Near SperryJacob William Deen, 86, native of Virginia and resident of Franklin township, Des Moines county, for eighty years, passed away at 10:05 last night (November 1, 1936) at his home near Sperry, Iowa.
He was a farmer, well known in the community, and while of advanced age his death was sudden. Last week he shucked corn and on Saturday did his usual farm chores.
He was born in Virginia May 13, 1850, and he was married here to Anna Grannaman in 1905. Mr. Deen was the oldest member of the I.O.O.F. lodge of Sperry.
Surviving are his widow; three children, Jacob B., Silas M., and Evelyn L., all at home; two sisters, Mrs. J. E. Miller of Kingston and Mrs. Kittie Johnson (sic) of Sperry; and one grandchild. One child preceded him in death.
Funeral services will he held at Prugh's chapel Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Reverend Murton D. Wyatt to officiate. Burial will be in Loper cemetery.
