Mrs. Sharon Kay Phillips, 69, of Burlington died at 10:05 p.m. Wednesday, August 27, 2014, at her home after a 2 ½ year battle with cancer.
Born February 6, 1945 in Burlington, she was the daughter of Lawrence R. and Vera Edna (Cook) Bell. On December 4, 1978 she married William L. Phillips in Burlington.
Mrs. Phillips was a 1963 graduate of Burlington High School. She worked at the Palace Theater, IRC and then for 28 years at Winegard in production.
She was a member of Skiowans Ski Club and enjoyed camping, fishing, cooking, and being at the cabin. She was an excellent seamstress and also made quilts and baby blankets. She enjoyed attending her granddaughter Kayli's dance and sporting events.Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Bill Phillips of Burlington; daughter, Lisa Morrison of Danville; son, Steve Morrison of Danville; stepson, Troy Phillips of Florida; two granddaughters, Kayli Morrison and Falicia Pence; one great grandson, Lucas Pence; two sisters, Joann (Doug) Smith and Vickie (Eddie) Steward both of Burlington; one brother, Terry (Bonnie) Bell of Burlington; and sister-in-law, Jan Bell of Sperry.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Robert Bell.
The memorial funeral service for Mrs. Phillips will be 11 a.m. Saturday, September 6th, at Lunning Chapel with the Rev. Andy Avery officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the time of service.
A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice.
According to Mrs. Phillips wishes, cremation has been entrusted to Lunning Chapel.
