Mrs. Barbara Ann Buttz, 72, of Burlington died at 2:25 p.m. Saturday, August 9, 2014, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born March 24, 1942 in Mercer County, Missouri, she was the daughter of Harold David and Jennygale (Brown) Ward. On June 20, 1959 she married Lanny Walter Buttz in Moline, Illinois. He preceded her in death on February 14, 1999.
Mrs. Buttz was a sporting good salesperson from 1972 - 1975 and from 1985 until 2001 she owned and operated the Old Home Café in South Lineville, Missouri. She then worked at the Terrible's Casino in Osceola until her retirement.
Mrs. Buttz enjoyed Bingo, bird watching, writing short stories, hunting and fishing. She loved her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include four sons, David William (Robin Simbro) Buttz of Des Moines, Lenny Dean Buttz of Osceola, Jerard Lee (Amy) Buttz of Omaha, Nebraska and Brett Allen (Lisa) Buttz of Dallas City, Illinois; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren and one brother, Dennis Eugene (Chae Yim) Ward of Los Angeles, California.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister, Patty Lynn Bloom
The memorial funeral service for Mrs. Buttz will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, August 12th, at First Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Larry Mumma officiating. A luncheon will follow at the church.
A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice House.
