Mrs. Ruth Marie Hill, 87, of Burlington died at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, August 9, 2014, at Blair House in Burlington.
Born March 1, 1927 in Burlington, she was the daughter of Albert E. and Emma Stoerzbach Parmeter. On September 6, 1948 she married Ray J. Hill in Burlington. He preceded her in death on June 30, 1993.
Mrs. Hill was a 1946 graduate of Burlington High School. She was a homemaker and a babysitter.
Mrs. Hill was a member of Zion United Church of Christ and enjoyed sewing, baking, going to the family cabin and taking care of her family. She was an avid Cubs and Hawkeye fan and loved to watch them on TV.
Survivors include two daughters, Marian Kay (Jeff) Fritz and Sally Jo (Charles) Bright both of Burlington; four grandchildren, Danielle Bright of Muscatine and Wendy Hatfield, Jeffrah Levins and Hillaurie Fritz all of Burlington; four great grandchildren, Drake and Avery Levins, Madison Hatfield and Klayton Tucker all of Burlington.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and one sister.
Friends may call after noon Monday, August 11th, until 7 p.m. at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m.
The funeral service for Mrs. Hill will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, August 12th, at Lunning Chapel with the Rev. Brice Hughes officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
Memorials have been established for Zion United Church of Christ and Des Moines County Animal Shelter.
