Delbert H. Hemmie, 61, died at 1:30 a.m. Saturday, January 12 (1974), at Henry County Memorial hospital after a long illness. He was born June 26, 1912, at Sperry, the son of Fred and Laura Ericksen Hemmie.

He married Daisey Dietsch January 12, 1935, in Ft. Madison. She died in 1972.

Mr. Hemmie, a trucker, lived in Ft. Madison until 1967 when he moved to Mt. Pleasant.

Surviving: The mother, Mt. Pleasant; four sons, Winsor, Mt. Pleasant, Wayne and Larry, Montrose, Jerry, Ft. Madison; one daughter, Mrs. Wanda McGehee, Ft. Madison; two stepsons, John Beames, Visalia, California, Joe Beames, Rock Island, Illinois; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Juanita Pickle, New London; one brother, Virgil, Mt. Pleasant; 27 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Beatty-Jennings chapel, Mt. Pleasant, Reverend John Coons; Hillcrest Memorial Park cemetery.
