Mr. Roger Keith Huston, 77, of Burlington died at 4:45 p.m. Thursday, November 20, 2014, at Great River Medical Center.
Born February 11, 1937 in Burlington, he was the son of William "Whitey" and Florence Teresa (Fitzsimmons) Huston. On July 3, 1958 he married Sharon Wolkenhauer at Bethany Lutheran Church in Burlington.
Mr. Huston was a 1957 graduate of Burlington High School. He served in the Army National Guard Reserves from 1957 - 1964. He was a welder at J.I. Case for 34 years, retiring in 1991.
Mr. Huston attended Harmony Bible Church and was a member of U.A.W. Local 807. He was elected as the Parks Commissioner for West Burlington. He enjoyed his family, boating, motorcycling and working on motors and cars.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Sharon Huston of Burlington; two sons, Brian Keith Huston of Burlington and Bradley Kenneth Huston of Maple Hill, Kansas; one daughter, Diana Kay Huston of Evans, Colorado; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; sister, Donna Mae (Larry) Williams of Burlington; mother-in-law, Mary Gertrude Wolkenhauer of Overland Park, Kansas and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The memorial funeral service for Mr. Huston will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 25th, at Lunning Chapel with Pastor Dan Dingus officiating. The Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military rites. Inurnment will be in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from one hour prior to the time of service.
A memorial has been established for the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Iowa.
