Larry W. Dideriksen, 71, of Burlington, died at 11:30 PM Saturday, April 26, 2014, at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Born June 20, 1942, in Burlington, he was the son of Orin Orville "Okie" and Hazel Dodd Dideriksen. On February 11, 1967, he married Mary Jane Rehman in Marion, Iowa.
Larry worked in the electrical department for IAAP. He then became part owner/electrical contractor of Seither and Cherry in Keokuk, Iowa. After moving back to Burlington Larry became co-owner/electric contractor of JD Electric. Following his retirement he became an electrical consultant for Frank Millard and Company.
He was a 1961 graduate of Burlington High School. He attended Southeastern Community College and Iowa State University. He was a U.S. Veteran, serving during the Vietnam War. He was president of Iowa Chapter of NECA for several years. He was on the IBEW apprentice board. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited, Knights of Columbus, Burlington Golf Club, and SS. John and Paul Catholic Church. He was an avid hunter, golfer, bowler and fisherman. He enjoyed world wide traveling and playing bridge. He was a sports enthusiast. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane; two daughters, Lisa M.(Yvette Lopez) Dideriksen of Niles, Illinois, and Amy L. Dideriksen of Orlando, Florida; one son, Eric W. (Tina) Dideriksen of Burlington; two grandchildren, Jesse (Amber) Byrne of Burlington, and Jasmine Stewart of West Burlington; two great-grandchildren, Aria Byrne of Burlington and Nartel Jennings of West Burlington, IA; one sister, Linda (Richard) Rehman of Burlington; three brothers, Tony Dideriksen of Burlington, Bill (Marie) Dideriksen of Mediapolis, IA, and Mike (Beth) Dideriksen of Burlington; three sisters-in-law, Kay (Larry) Conaway of Cedar Rapids, IA, Nancy (Wayne) Niles of Carman, IL, and Clare (Ralph Antonacci) Rehman of Virginia, IL; one.brother-in-law, Bob (Dia) Rehman of Burlington, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Joel, and one brother, Bobby. Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Thielen Crematory. Visitation will be from 8:00 AM until 8:00 PM with the family to receive friends following a 5:00 PM Rosary Service until 8:00 PM Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at Thielen Funeral Home. The Memorial Mass of the Resurrection for Mr. Dideriksen will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Rev. Marty Goetz as the Celebrant. Music will be provided by the Des Moines County Resurrection Choir. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Full military honors will be rendered by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard. A time of food and fellowship will be held in St. John's Cafeteria following the burial. Memorials have been established for JTD Memorial Scholarship, Hamilton, Illinois and Notre Dame High School of Burlington.
