Elon Arthur "Lon" Rosine, 56, of Burlington, died at 12:10 A.M. Thursday, January 9, 2003, at his home.
Born April 14, 1946, in Nashville, Tennessee, he was the son of Rudolph Cornelius and Mildred Evelyn Camp Rosine. On August 16, 1970, he married Peggy L. Cavanaugh in Monmouth, Illinois.
Mr. Rosine was a chemistry and physics teacher at Mediapolis High School. He retired in May 2002. He began his teaching career in Lost Nation and moved to Mediapolis in 1971.
He was raised in the Galesburg and Monmouth areas and was a 1964 graduate of Monmouth High School. He was a 1969 graduate of Monmouth College. He sponsored high school science club, coordinated A/V services and was an honorary member of the National Honor Society. He was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Burlington. He chaired the Social Action Committee.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Matthew A. Rosine of Fort Worth, Texas; one brother, Julian E. Rosine of Riverside, California; and one niece.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Burlington.
A memorial service for Mr. Rosine will be at 11 a.m. Monday at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), with Rev. David Nash officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for the ministerial scholarship fund of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)
