Gordon Ogaard, 70, of Mason City, Iowa died Saturday June 7, 2014 at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City, Iowa.

Gordon was born Nov. 18, 1943 in Mason City, Iowa the son of Carl and Tillie (Thompson) Ogaard. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1962. He worked for Deckers-Armours then Mercy Medical Center North Iowa in the engineering dept. until he retired in 2011. He married Rose McCourt August 12, 1963 in Mason City.

He enjoyed barbequing, playing games on the computer and watching professional baseball, especially the Twins. He enjoyed the family picnics in the park. He was known for sizing up people and giving them nicknames. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Mason City, Iowa.

Gordon is survived by his wife Rose L. Ogaard, Mason City, Iowa; three children Kevin Ogaard, Burlington, Iowa, Doug (Pam) Ogaard and Karla (Jeff) Rippentrop, both of Mason City, Iowa; two sisters Bonnie Ogaard and Delores (Mike) Morehead both of Mason City, Iowa; brother-in-law Dean Miller, Mason City, Iowa thirteen grandchildren Ashley Graf, Stacie (Sam) Braband, Kelli (Mike) May, Christy Ogaard and her fiancé Ben Ady, Tyler , Caleb, Emily, Grayson ,Joseph,and Annastin Ogaard, Michael Rippentrop and Nicole Rippentrop; 6 great-grandchildren Gretta Braband, Forrest Braband, Cora, Joe, Keagan and Madi May; cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Ryan Ogaard, brother Gilbert Ogaard and four sisters Lenore Kollman, Clarine Timm, Norma Miller and Iola Wood. Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St. N.E., Mason City, Iowa. 641-423-2372. ColonialChapels.com

A celebration of Gordon’s life will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday June 11, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Mason City, Iowa with Rev. Dan Gerrietts officiating. Interment of ashes will be at a later time in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City, Iowa.

Family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m.-7:00p.m. Tuesday at the Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, Mason City, Iowa and then one hour before the service at the church. Family suggests memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church or K.C.M.R.
