Mary Ann Alderson, 83, of Burlington, Iowa, died at Trinity West Medical Center, Rock Island, Illinois, on Sunday morning, May 11, 2014.

Born on January 19, 1931 in Burlington, Iowa, she was the daughter of Walter and Mary Marie Long Bock. She married Norval Thomas Alderson on September 13, 1975 in Burlington, Iowa

Mary Ann was a homemaker. She loved to work outside in her yard and tending to her flowers which made it a pleasurable yard to view and enjoy. She loved the St. Louis Cardinals, NFL Football and feeding birds. She was a collector of Ducks Unlimited and cherished the time she spent with her husband. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her husband, Norval; two step-daughters, Deb (Tom) Gubba of Burlington, Iowa, and Patti (Ron) Davidson of Alliance, Ohio; six step-grandchildren; ten step-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Norma Bock of Burlington, Iowa; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Richard Bock; one sister, Gloria Wheeler; and one step-son, Mike Alderson.

Graveside Committal Services for Mary Ann Alderson will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Aspen Grove Cemetery, Burlington, Iowa. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Sunnyside St. entrance to the cemetery prior to the service. Pastor Dean Graber will officiate. No formal visitation is planned.
