Theresa E. Mesmer, 84, of Renaissance Nursing Center in Chicago, formerly of West Burlington, died Tuesday, May 20, 2003 at the nursing center.

Born, March 3, 1919, in Gerard, Kansas, she was the daughter of Bernard J. and Catherine F. Murry Titmus. On August 7, 1943 she married Frank J. Mesmer in Burlington. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Mesmer worked as a nurse's aide. She was a member of SS Mary and Patrick Catholic Church, the Eagle's Auxilary, Daughters of Isabella and St. Mary's Altar and Rosary Society. She was a World War II Army Veteran, where she served in the nursing field.

Survivors include nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters.

There will be no formal visitation.

The Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Mesmer will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in West Burlington, with the Rev. Patrick Hilgendorf officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for SS Mary and Patrick Catholic Church to purchase an Easter candle.
