Mary Lou Skerik, 85, of Burlington, died at 1:15 p.m. Sunday, February 23, 2003, at Great River Medical Center, Klein Center.

Born August 18, 1917, in Burlington, she was the daughter of De L and Ruth Hiltz Moss. She married Joseph F. Skerik Jr. on August 21, 1936, in Burlington. He died July 27, 1966.

Mrs. Skerik was a homemaker. She was a member of Sts. John and Paul Catholic Church and Mercy Hospital Auxiliary She was an avid folger and played in many women's golf tournaments at Burlington Golf Club.

Survivors include four sons, Joseph "J" , William "Bill", and Patrick "Rick" Skerik, all of Burlington and Michael Skerik of Piedmont, California; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

A Christian wake service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Prugh's Chapel, after which the family will receive friends until 8:30 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Skerik will be at 10:00 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Patrick J. Hilgendorf officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for Hope Haven Area Development.
