June A. Ensminger, 87, of Burlington, died Friday, April 13, 2012 at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born June 21, 1924 in Kalona, Iowa, she was the daughter of William and Myrtle (Ledman) Landers. She married Billy Ensminger on February 17, 1944 in Burlington. He died May 12, 1996.

June worked at the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company, retiring in 1981 from Iowa City then moving back to Burlington and working in the office of Schramm's. In later years she worked in the kitchen and also did cleaning at the Christian School.

She was a member of West Avenue Baptist Church where she served as the Financial Secretary and a member of Telephone Pioneers of America.

She enjoyed puzzle books, reading and playing cards.

Survivors include two daughters; Judy Lemon of St. Louis, MO and Christy Hemphel of El Mirage, AZ;; three grandchildren, Jill (Jeff) Lemon, Douglas (Tiana) Lemon and Daniel Lemon; two great-grandchildren, Jack Lemon and Elijah Lemon; one brother, Walter (Mildred) Landers of Burlington; nieces and nephews; brother-in-law's, Bob (Barbara) Ensminger of Middletown and Jerry (Joyce) Ensminger of Minnesota; sister-in-law's, Sandra (Tom) Raines of Hurley, NM and Wanda Ensminger Tyrell of Burlington, also, her very dear friends, Kristen and Janell McGuire. June took care of Kristen from birth until the age of thirteen when June's heart became bad, they remained very close.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, Margaret Kemp and Helen Tyrell and one brother.

Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
