Mrs. Ida Weber Mansfield, for many years president of the Kings Daughters died Sunday afternoon at her home, 1713 S. Main St., after an extended illness. She was well known in Burlington and throughout the state and had devoted much of her life to the Kings Daughters.
She was born Jan. 1861 in Saint Albona, Mo. and came to Burlington with her parents when she was a child. She was graduated from Burlington high school and later taught there. She married Dr. F. J. Mansfield, a dentist, and her home has since been at the Main Street address where she died. Her husband is dead.
Her only known living relative, a second cousin, Mrs. Doris Weber Essig of Palos Heights, Ill., was with her at the time of death.
After the death of her husband she devoted her efforts to the member of the What-So-Ever Kings Daughters. She was a char-circle, organized in 1892, and was the circle's first president, retaining office until 1923. The circle established the Old Peoples home on Leebrick street, and Mrs. Mansfield was a member of the board.
She was president of the Iowa branch of Kings Daughters and its council member from 1908 until 1944. She was a charter member of the Congregational King Daughters organized in 1909, and a member of First Congregational church.
From 1932 to 1940 Mrs. Mansfield was a teacher of Christian leadership at Chautauqua, N. Y. In 1892 she founded the Shakespeare club of Burlington and continued as its president through the years. She also assisted the establishment of the Kings Daughters home in Ft. Madison.
Funeral services will be held in Prugh's chapel at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Rev. Bruce Masselink will officiate. Burial will be in Aspen Grove cemetery.
