Obituary
Emma "Shorty" Harris, 86, passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at the Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. Her family will receive friends from 9-11:00 a.m., Monday, January 23 at Iles Funeral Homes – Grandview Park Chapel. A graveside service at Rising Sun Cemetery will immediately follow the visitation.Emma was born on July 10, 1925 in Talala, Oklahoma, the daughter of Ellen Blakie and Roland Hannon. On October 13, 1941 she was united in married to Charles "Lem" Harris in Oklahoma. They moved to Iowa in 1952.
Emma worked as a Beautician for many years. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and gardening, tending to her flowers, playing cards, doing crosswords, camping and fishing.
Emma is survived by three daughters, Fran (Tom) Meyer of Danville, IA, Naomi (Denver) Kerns of New London, IA and Peggy (Don) Goldsberry of Des Moines; eight grandchildren, Chuck, Penny, Todd and Eric Meyer, Jen Ramsey and Jeff Johnson, Aaron Goldsberry and Andrea Jors; 12 great grandchildren, Wade Meyer, Cody, Tyler, Zachary and Nicole Skidmore, Taylor and Shelby Goldsberry, Tanner, Dusty and Kiera Jors, Eli Johnson and Kaci Lohner; brother, Donald Hannon of Oolagah, OK, and two sisters, Anna Plumer of Talala, OK and Dorothy Keele of Skiatook, OK. She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 70 years, Charlie Harris; her parents; brother, Ernest Hannon; sister, Rita Laughlin and an infant brother.
