Roger Alfred Hoambrecker, 93, of rural Burlington, died Thursday, November 18, 2010, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born July 28, 1917, in Burlington, he was the son of Albert and Elsie McCorkel Hoambrecker. He married Mildred Louise Cable, and she died in 1966. He married Beatrice Houtz, and she died in 1975. He later married Inez Little, and she died in 2006.
Mr. Hoambrecker worked as a trucker throughout his years and retired from the Des Moines County Road Maintenance. He served in the Navy during World War II. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Burlington. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and turtle trapping.
Survivors include two daughters, Ruby Ann Sink and Joyce Doyle, both of Burlington; one son, Rodney Hoambrecker of Monroe, Georgia; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Besides his three wives, he was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, two brothers, three sisters and a half sister.
No services are planned. The body has been cremated.
