John Kurka Dies At 82

Last rites for John S. Kurka Sr., 82, were held Monday in Burlington. Burial was in Aspen Grove Cemetery thre(sp).

Kurka died Sept. 4, at Veterans hospital in Iowa City. The family home is at 605 S. Central Ave. in Burlington.

Kurka was born Oct. 13, 1890 in Jefferson County, the son of Stephen and Agnes Supalla Kurka. Surviving are his wife, Hazel, and two children by a previous marriage: Mrs. Art Peters, Davenport; and John Kurka Jr., Eldon.

The following brothers and sisters also survive: Vic, Ray, Ralph and Alice Kurka, all of Fairfield; George Kurka, Billings, Mont.; Mrs. Bernard O'Neil, Mobile, Ala.; Mrs. Lawrence Libe, Washington; and Mrs. William Waugh, Burlington.

Two brothers and one sister are deceased.
