Larry Dwayne Rose, Sr., 60, of Burlington died at 10:13 p.m. Saturday, December 1, 2007, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born February 15, 1947 in Burlington, he was the son of Donald Dwayne and Leota Fay Seitz Rose. On February 5, 1966 he married Marilyn K. Black at Grace United Methodist Church in Burlington.

Mr. Rose was a 1965 graduate of Burlington High School. He worked at J.I. Case Company for 30 years, retiring in 1995. He also worked at Niehaus Honda Shop part time.

He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Eagles Club, U.A.W. Local 807 and Gold Wing Riders. Mr. Rose played Babe Ruth baseball, football in high school, and men's league softball. He also coached Little League baseball and was a Boy Scout den leader. He enjoyed camping, building racecars and sprint cars, hunting, fishing, tinkering in the garage and woodworking building his own furniture.

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn K. Rose of Burlington; one son, Larry Dwayne Rose, Jr. of Burlington; two daughters, Jean Christine Johnson and Tammy Eileen Lipper both of Burlington; six grandchildren, Brieanna Sue Rose, Scott Henry Rose, Michael Anthony Johnson, Sarah Jean Blint, Brandon Dean Lipper and Kayla Nicole Lipper; one great granddaughter, Abrieauna Sue Rose; two brothers, Dennis L. (Carol) Rose and Gail L. Rose both of Burlington; one sister, Susan D. (Kevin) Sumpter of Oquawka, Illinois; and one sister-in-law, Nancy (Joe) Fitzgerald of Grass Valley, California.

His parents preceded him in death.

A memorial has been established.
