Sunday, June 18, 1972Ralph LaVerne Anderson, 59, of Plank Rd., died at 10:15 a.m. Saturday, June 17, in Burlington's Memorial hospital.
Born Aug. 15, 1912 in Johnson City, Tenn., he was the son of Isaac S. and Iris Campbell Anderson. He married Ruth Koestner on Jan. 23, 1935 in Burlington.
He attended Burlington schools, served in the Navy during the Second World War and was a farmer in Des Moines county for many years. He and his wife served in the Peace Corps in Honduras in 1968 and 1969. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and Eagles.
Surviving: His wife, a foster daughter, Mrs. Sherry Letchford, Cedar Falls, two brothers, Phillip of Gretna, La., and Sanford of Burlington, and a sister, Alma Anderson, Burlington.
Funeral: 10 a.m. Monday, St. Patrick's Catholic church, Fr. Harry Ryan; Sacred Heart cemetery. Rosary at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Prugh's chapel. A Cancer Research memorial fund has been established.
