Leila Tiemann

Leila June Tiemann, 87, of Burlington died at 3:30 a.m. Monday, April 1, 2013, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.

Born June 22, 1925, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Edward William and Caroline Theresa Wiegard Laue. On June 8, 1946, she married Cecil S. Tiemann in Burlington. He died March 9, 2003.

Mrs. Tiemann was a homemaker and before marriage, worked at Sears and JC Penneys, and at PRP in Mediapolis. She attended Reiter Country School.

Survivors include two daughters, JoAnn Oetken of Burlington and Sheila Woodley of Shell Rock; five grandchildren; and one sister, Anita Cote of Ventura, Calif.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and three brothers.

Friends may call from noon to 6 p.m. today at Lunning Chapel in Burlington, where family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday.

The funeral for Mrs. Tiemann will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. Jane Willan officiating. Burial will be in North Walker Cemetery, rural Burlington. A luncheon will be served at 12:30 p.m. at Zion United Church of Christ after burial.

Memorials have been established for Zion United Church of Christ, Great River Hospice and North Walker Cemetery.
