Kathryn Lucille McLaughlin Smith, 91, of Burlington, died June 6, 2007, at Great River Medical Center Klein Center.

Born March 31, 1916 in Franklin Township, near Dodgeville, she was the daughter of James and Nellie Slaven McLaughlin. On December 29, 1951, she married Miles Herbert "Herb" Smith in Burlington.

Mrs. Smith was a secretary. She was employed at Montgomery Ward, Capital Theatre, Murray Ironworks, The National Research Bureau and Sylvania. She was a forward on her high School basketball team and graduated in 1934. She was a member of St. Paul's Cahtolic Church. She enjoyed reading the newspaper every morning, reading short articles out of magazines and talking on the telephone. She also enjoyed collecting items such as dishes.

Survivors include her husband and nine nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and five sisters.

Rev. Fr. Patrick Hilgendorf will be the celebrant, with burial in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, in Dodgeville, Iowa. Memorial's have been established.
